Urban Office product procurement and site installation activities are planned and conducted to minimise and where possible avoid adverse effects on the natural environment and social surroundings for the benefit of current and future generations.
A core objective of our team is to provide a superior, environmentally friendly product alternative to our customers wherever possible for every category in our extensive product catalogue.

Urban Office works closely with our manufacturers to progress the following objectives:
- The use of environmentally sustainable product elements in all products.
- The use of recycled products elements is given preference over recyclable products in all product elements.
- All products are made and assembled using non-toxic materials which includes: glues, mechanical fixings, fabrics and cleaners.
- Provide a "closed-loop path" for all products, ensuring that the promise of recycling is delivered.
A "Closed-loop Path" for Product Recycling
At this time in Australia the Environmental status of the furniture industry is in a development phase. Many environmentally products that are easily available overseas are not yet easily available here and the critical mass needed for the industry to widely adopt products such as Low VOC Boards seems to be some way off. Major Corporate and Government buyers are making an effort in these areas and it is important for all distributors to provide the alternatives for them to use.
Urban Office is actively working with suppliers to ensure that we offer a true environmental outcome for our customers, and not just marketing statements that predominate in the industry at this time. Providing products that are "recyclable" is only half the objective. It is important that we also work to provide a path for recycling of every product possible, "closing the loop" in the environmental promise.
To this extent we have made the following additions to our products and services:
Task Seat Recycling Service
On a fee-for-service basis Urban Office will remove any task seat , break it down and send to be recycled. We have found that up to 70% of some task seats can be recycled.
Distributor for Wharington International & Recopol® Products
Urban Office is pleased to announce that as of May 2007 we have now signed as the Queensland Distributor for Wharington International and Recopol products. Using their patented processes, Wharington International produces stylish, quality recycled commercial furniture products and offers a range of recycled furniture components via the Recopol range.
We can now offer Wharington International full range of environmentally sustainable products in:
- Task Seating
- Lounges
- Workstations
- Repocol recycled products - design your own seating with us!
